How to transfer your prescriptions to a new pharmacy

Transferring prescriptions is one of those tasks that sounds harder than it is. Here's exactly what happens when you switch — and how Parkway makes it nearly invisible.

You don't actually do the work

When you transfer, the new pharmacy contacts your old pharmacy and requests the prescription file. No paperwork on your end — just the names of your medications and your current pharmacy.

Insurance moves with you

Your insurance is tied to you, not to the pharmacy. The new pharmacy uses the same insurance card, the same coupons (GoodRx, manufacturer cards), and most patients pay the same copay (or less, when we price-match).

Controlled substances are different

C-II medications (e.g. Adderall, oxycodone) can't be transferred. Your prescriber has to send a new prescription. We coordinate that for you.

Refills carry over

Any refills remaining on your prescription transfer with it. If you're out of refills, we contact your prescriber for a renewal at no charge.

How Parkway does it

Submit the JotForm transfer request. We call your current pharmacy, your prescriber if needed, and have your medications ready — usually within 24 hours. Free delivery starts on day one.
